When Arriving For Your Appointment

Pets MUST be in a carrier.

Please bring some of your pet’s food in with you and a fecal sample if possible.

Please call us upon arrival to lessen stress upon your avian/exotic pet.

Please wait in the calm of your vehicle until our team is ready to bring you in through the quiet side entrance. This will allow your specialized pet to avoid stress that could be caused by other pets in our main waiting area.

An Avian and Exotic Tip For Owners From Dr. Rose:

If your Avian or Exotic pet has obvious symptoms of illness that you can already see, please consider it an emergency and schedule an appointment! This type of pet is typically quite ill by the time they have noticeable symptoms! Prey animals are instinctively wired to hide any symptoms of illness or weakness for survival.

Annual exams are recommended for all exotic pets and every 6 months for senior pets.

Services offered:

If your pet is a new patient or has not been seen in over 1 year, an exam is required prior to performing any services.

Please note that Nail Trims for Guinea Pigs, Ferrets, and Rabbits may still be scheduled under Vaccine Clinic appointments as well.

We are not able to provide large animal veterinary care, and are not able to provide appointments for pet monkeys, tarantulas, fish, or any injured or orphaned wildlife.

Wildlife can still be referred to TriState Bird Rescue in Newark, Delaware, or Delaware Wildlife Rehabber, Hilary Taylor, in Bear, Delaware.

 

Dr. Rose is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts, where she met her fiancé, Dr. Johnny. Dr. Rose completed her clinical training at the University of Illinois. She is a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV), and Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV). Dr. Rose is currently serving as a New Castle County Representative and Scholarship Review Committee Member for the Delaware Veterinary Medical Association (DVMA). In her free time, she enjoys yoga, birdwatching, and spending time with her fiancé and menagerie of pets.
